Call for Expressions of Interest to EU- or UK-Based Scholars with Expertise in EU Studies and Policymaking

To Develop Policy Papers on the 14 Priorities from the AVIS

Call for Expressions of Interest to EU- or UK-Based Scholars with Expertise in EU Studies and Policymaking

The Social Sciences Research Center (SSRC) at International Burch University is excited to announce a new opportunity for EU- or UK-based scholars as part of the Unis4EU project. We are inviting scholars with expertise in EU studies, the EU accession process of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and policymaking to submit proposals for developing policy papers on the 14 priorities from the European Commission’s Avis on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s application for EU membership.

Over the past five years, progress on implementing these priorities has been slow, with only two of the 14 priorities evaluated as fully completed by the European Commission. As Bosnia and Herzegovina works towards its EU integration, it is crucial to address these priorities to ensure better governance and alignment with EU standards.

We are seeking contributions from scholars who can develop insightful policy papers on one or more of the 14 priorities. The selected scholars will receive administrative and technical support, along with a grant of €1,000 net. Additionally, the Unis4EU project team will provide close collaboration to ensure the successful completion of the papers.

Submission Guidelines

Scholars interested in contributing policy papers are invited to submit their proposals by November 3, 2024, by email to [email protected].

Each submission should include:

  • A brief proposal (approximately 250 words) outlining the priority or priorities the scholar intends to focus on, along with the proposed research methods and the expected impact of the policy paper.

  • A current CV or résumé, including a list of relevant publications.

Timeline:

  • First drafts of policy papers are expected by the end of February 2025.

  • Final drafts by mid-April 2025.
  • The policy papers will be compiled into a compendium and presented on Europe Day, May 9, 2025.

Selected scholars will receive €1,000 net grant for administrative and technical support and close collaboration with the Unis4EU project team to ensure the successful development of the papers.

This is a unique chance for scholars to actively contribute to the EU integration process of BiH by developing actionable policy recommendations.
